I am probably going to buy some Continental Vertical Pro's this weekend and replace my Maxxis Minion DH's. I'm also thinking of running some thinner inner tubes to reduce the rolling weight of my bike.

I really like the Maxxis for the insane amount of grip they have given me. When I had my old Tioga's I was always sliding off the bike, but the Maxxis have saved me so many times. Hopefully the Contental Vertical Pro's will prove to be a decent midway mark between the two extremes.

I may possibly sell on my Maxxis if anyone is interested. Else I will keep them until I can afford a DH bike lol!

I really need to look into some lighter inner tubes, on the rare occasion that a nokian tube goes its normally due to it being pinched rather than a puncture!

I would be tempted to take your Maxxis tires of you for winter riding, but since the wheather is at its worst now, its only going to get better!

How did you come across the Vertical Pro's Ali?

We stuck one on the rear of Chris Smiths Kona on the recommendation of Geared, after looking into them on the net they seem to get good reviews.

I purchased said tyres today and three Bontrager inner tubes which are a lot lighter than the heavy duty Nokian's im running at the moment.

Hopefully they will still offer a decent amount of grip in the mud, as I have been told they can slip in poor conditions. Other people have said they are good all year round :s

I was fitting the tyres today and managed to pinch flat one of the tubes doh! See how my tube repair skills hold up and try again later in the week.

Well, the rear wheel felt noticebly lighter. Tomorrow night I should be able to finish switching over the front and test it in the dark lol.
